Our Teaching

Philosophy

At Shri School of Yoga, our exceptional instructors resonate deeply with students because they share insights born of genuine experience. Our mission is to cultivate a nurturing environment where every practitioner can delve into the transformative journey inherent in dedicated yoga practice and study, fostering a dynamic learning atmosphere.

Beginning with our foundational weekend, we embark on a journey of grounding and connection, unveiling the rich tapestry of yoga's teachings, pedagogical skills, and the path to self-discovery. We embrace the ethos of yoga's unfolding wisdom, progressing step-by-step (pada-pada), empowering each aspiring teacher to speak and instruct authentically from the profound understanding they have cultivated. This approach imbues them with the assurance of genuine expertise, enriching their teaching and resonating deeply with their students.

“It's hard to know where to begin- this program meant the world to me. My yoga journey has been full of its own mountains, valleys and switchbacks and through it all, I have always come back to my mat. When the opportunity for YTT at Shri became available I eagerly signed up with a clarity in my heart that this was the next step on my path. This program allowed me to step into myself in the most authentic manner I've ever known. For many, myself included, the main thing that comes to mind with the word yoga is the movement, the asana practice. This training opened my heart and mind to the ever unfolding layers that go far beyond asana and into the journey of the Self. Each of my teachers brought their own niche of wisdom, understanding and creativity that encouraged us to explore ourselves in physical, mental and spiritual ways. I graduated the program with a deeply rooted confidence in my ability to teach others and a strongly established practice in meeting with myself through movement and mediation. I cannot speak highly enough of this program and I will readily encourage anyone who is considering getting their 200hrs to look into Shri!”

“My YTT experience was life changing. Since I began doing yoga in college, I was always interested in becoming a yoga teacher-- when I could finally make it happen, I was ecstatic. Shri is a wonderful studio and the LCC has such an amazing presence of community and love. I just got hired to start as a sub and am hoping to eventually take on my own class in the future. I have taught yoga at outside events as well and everything has fallen into place after my graduation. I highly recommend Shri as your choice for YTT!”

Angelo Hurtado - RYT 200

“I wasn’t sure about committing to yoga teacher training at the beginning- the money, the time, being a 23yr old male/broke college student with little yoga experience around more experienced people who’ve been practicing yoga for years. But I regret absolutely nothing and it turned out to be one of the greatest decisions of my life and a practice. I love the practice of yoga now. I saw what it did for me and realized what it can do for others. I now teach two classes a week at the Johnstown YMCA and feel deeply moved after every practice I instruct and share with others in the community. I am forever grateful to Shauna, Allison, and Sirena and highly recommend taking this step.”
