Sliding Scale Memberships
At The Climbing Collective, we believe that climbing should be accessible to everyone. We know finances can sometimes be a barrier, and we never want cost to be the reason someone misses out on the joy, challenge, and community of climbing. That’s why we created our Sliding Scale Membership program.
So, what is it?
Our Sliding Scale Membership gives climbers access to all the same perks as a regular monthly membership, just at a reduced cost. Members pay 50% of the standard monthly rate at their home gym, and we waive the $50 registration fee.
Who is it for?
If our standard membership feels out of reach right now, we encourage you to apply.
This program is designed to help those who might otherwise struggle to afford a membership. We trust our community to apply honestly, knowing these spots are limited and meant for those who truly need them.
You might consider a full-priced membership if:
You can meet your basic needs without much difficulty.
Paying full price might be a sacrifice, but it wouldn’t be a hardship.
You have disposable income for things like travel, shopping, or entertainment.
You have reliable financial support from a job, family, or other resources.
A Sliding Scale Membership might be right for you if:
You struggle to consistently meet your basic needs.
You are underemployed or unemployed (not by choice).
You qualify for government assistance.
You don’t have access to financial support from family or other resources.
You live with a disability that impacts your ability to work.
You’ve had to rely on credit cards or loans to cover basic expenses.
How it works:
Applications are open from the 1st–15th of each month.
Approved memberships begin on the 1st of the following month.
The reduced rate is valid for 6 months. In month 5, we’ll check in with you about next steps: whether that’s reapplying or transitioning to a standard membership.
There are no contracts or cancellation fees, so you can step away anytime.
Decisions will be shared by the 25th of each month.
This is a new program, and we’re excited to grow with it. Above all, our goal is to keep climbing accessible and to continue building a welcoming, supportive community where everyone can thrive."
