Lesson learned: We recently were informed that our $2,500 deductible does not include wind and hail events in the state of Colorado due to the great losses that insurance companies have faced in recent years from wind/hail claims. Rather than a very reasonable $2,500 deductible, our wind/hail deductible, we learned, is a percentage of the total value of the insured rate of the building, in our case, $311,856, an amount far greater than the estimated repair cost. We share this for two reasons, first, to shed light on why after wavering back and forth, we decided to move forward with a GoFundMe to assist with the cost of roof replacement, which is currently predicted at ~$120,000. Second, we share this to shed light on this important asterisk to modern Colorado commercial insurance policies. If you have a business, be extra mindful to fully understand the differences in coverages, especially regarding wind and hail, you don’t want to learn the hard way as we have!

To Our Climbing Collective Family,

On the morning of December 19th, a dangerous and unexpected windstorm severely damaged the roof of our Longmont Climbing Collective location. The damage was extensive, and after assessment, we’ve learned the roof is not salvageable and will need to be completely replaced in the coming days, and possibly weeks. For everyone’s safety, we have had to temporarily close the gym.

We anticipate reopening Sunday or Monday, but this is an unprecedented situation, and it may take longer. We promise to keep you updated as we learn more.

During this time, one of the biggest ways you can help us is by keeping your memberships active. Your support allows us to repair the gym safely and continue bringing climbing to everyone who loves it. Both our Loveland and Greeley gyms are still available to you, and we will be extending the hours in Loveland on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday next week to open at 8:30 am.

We also want to give a heartfelt thank you to G1, all Spot locations, all CO Movement locations, Ascent Studio and Whetstone for opening their doors to our members during this time. Thanks to their generosity, if you have an active membership at the Climbing Collective, you can climb at any of these gyms for free. Just log in to the portal and show your active membership status at the front desk.

We are truly overwhelmed by the love, kindness, and support our community has already shown. It’s in moments like this that the strength of our climbing family really shines, and we feel so lucky to be part of it.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sticking with us. We can’t wait to welcome you back to Longmont as soon as it’s safe.

With gratitude,

The Climbing Collective Team

If you feel like assisting in the rebuild of our roof, we would be very grateful, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The indoor climbing business has been tough in 2025, our toughest year yet (the same for many of our climbing gym business friends), but this has made it even tougher.
